The family chose the café color instead of white, and against the wood floors, patterned stair runner, and decorative railing it reads as part of the trim. Large square clamps carry the gates where a direct mount to the railing wasn’t possible.
A retractable gate suits this kind of home because it disappears when open. Wide openings, a formal entry, and a staircase with a decorative railing all stay visible; the gate only exists when it’s pulled across.
