The consultation is highly educational and we review safety considerations, product options, and decision points throughout the process. Being present ensures you can make informed decisions and fully understand the recommendations for your home. 

The Home Safety Consultation fee is separate from product and installation costs.

The consultation is a detailed, time-intensive process. Before the visit, we gather information about your home and family. During the visit, we walk through every space, learn how your family actually uses each room, and work through the risks with you in an interactive education session. From that assessment we build your Home Safety Plan and onboard you as a Safe Start client.

As a client, you retain ongoing access to our expertise, our custom product line, our recommendations, and future services.

After your consultation, you will receive your Home Safety Plan with recommendations and cost estimates. From there, you can choose to schedule your Baby Proofing Installation based on which solutions you want to move forward with and when. We remain available for follow-up support and additional services.

Your Home Safety Plan is a comprehensive, room-by-room plan for your home, built from our assessment and product selection. It includes:

• A detailed evaluation of each area of your home, identifying potential hazards and how they relate to your child’s development
• Specific, personalized safety recommendations for each space
• A structured plan outlining exactly what needs to be addressed alongside identified product solutions 
• Notes on placement, use and any special considerations
• Itemized material and installation costs

You will also receive:

• A curated Product Guide with our vetted safety products
• A comprehensive LookBook featuring real installations in real homes, so you can visualize how solutions will work in your space

The cost of baby proofing varies depending on the size of your home, the number of safety solutions needed, and the specific products and services chosen.

Your Home Safety Plan includes a detailed estimate for materials and labor so you understand the full cost before any work begins. We invoice only for completed work, and you are not required to move forward with everything at once. If you have a budget, we can prioritize recommendations based on your most immediate needs. 

Yes. We offer professional baby proofing installation for Custom Child Proofing clients in:

• Washington, DC
• Maryland
• Northern Virginia

We also offer installation for virtual clients within the DC area.

For families outside our standard service areas, we offer Bespoke Baby Proofing where our team can travel to complete a fully customized installation. Please contact us for pricing and details.

Not in any meaningful way. We prioritize solutions that are safe, durable, and appropriate for your space.  

As experienced installers, we use precise techniques and specialized hardware to ensure all safety products are securely installed while minimizing visible impact. We do not rely on wall anchors, pressure-mounted gates, or adhesive-only solutions in most situations. While these options are often marketed as “damage-free”, they are less safe and lead to unintended damage over time.

Our installations are clean, intentional, and designed with both function and aesthetics in mind. When products are removed, any impact is minimal and comparable to hanging a piece of art.
