How It Works
How the Virtual Consultation Works
Schedule Your Virtual Safety Session
Request your session through our Contact page, choose “Virtual Safety Session,” and our scheduling team will confirm a date and time. Clients receive a full refund if they reschedule or cancel more than 48 hours before the appointment.
Tell Us About Your Home
After scheduling, you will receive a Virtual Safety Survey with questions about your family, home, and safety goals. Please complete it, with photos, at least 48 hours before your session so your consultant can review everything in advance.
Your Virtual Safety Session
A 60-minute, one-on-one video walk-through of your home with a Safe Start child safety consultant. We review your survey, answer your safety questions, discuss possible solutions for each room, establish developmental safety priorities for your children, and make tentative plans for your installation.
Your Home Safety Plan
The Home Safety Plan is a room-by-room guide with every recommended child safety product and the cost of materials in your customized Child Proofing Kit. It also includes an aesthetic inspiration board and, if needed, a materials ordering guide and clickable shopping list.
Products: Child Proofing Kit or Self-Fulfillment
Child Proofing Kit — Baby proofing materials delivered to your doorstep before your installation. Our custom baby gate mounts and other select materials cannot be purchased online or in stores; virtual clients get them directly from us. Each kit is designed as a complete solution, so families do not curate their own. Kits ship within the U.S. and Canada.
Self-Fulfillment — If you prefer to source materials yourself, we provide a clickable shopping list and an ordering guide with instructions for anything that is not available at retail.
Guided Installation
Clear, step-by-step instructions and videos — more thorough than the ones manufacturers provide. Certain installations may require the assistance of a licensed, experienced general contractor.
Follow-Up Support
We remain available to virtual clients for troubleshooting and follow-up questions for as long as you need us, and you have access to our online resources and safety materials.

Virtual Baby Proofing FAQs
A 60-minute live video session with a Safe Start child safety consultant. We walk through your home room by room, review the survey and photos you sent in advance, answer your questions, and set safety priorities based on your child’s age and development. Afterward you receive a written Home Safety Plan.
Complete the Virtual Safety Survey, including photos of your rooms, at least 48 hours before your appointment. That lets your consultant review your home before the call so the hour is spent on solutions, not orientation.

Yes. Your customized Child Proofing Kit is delivered to your doorstep before you install, anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Some items, including our custom baby gate mounts, are not sold online or in stores and are available only through us. Families who prefer to buy their own materials can use the self-fulfillment option instead.
Most families can. Every product in your kit comes with our own step-by-step instructions and videos, and your consultant is available for troubleshooting. A small number of installations may need a licensed general contractor; we will tell you which ones in your plan.
Yes. Gates, mounts, anchors, and latches in your Child Proofing Kit are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for one year. Send us a photo of the part; if it is defective, we ship a replacement at no charge within the U.S. and Canada. Adhesive products, installation damage, modification, and normal wear are not covered.
Yes. Local families sometimes start with a Virtual Safety Session to get a plan first, then decide whether to install themselves or book in-home child proofing.
Yes. The Virtual Safety Session is available to families everywhere. Child Proofing Kits currently ship within the U.S. and Canada; families elsewhere use the self-fulfillment option with our shopping list and ordering guide.
Sessions rescheduled or cancelled more than 48 hours before the appointment are refunded in full.
